What Women Really Want in a Man

Finding a mate usually takes a lot of time and energy but most humans at every adult age still have an inner drive to find a mate. If young and healthy, the mated pair normally engage in on-going sexual activity after getting to know each other better. The delay is normally the female's choice. Females in many species do not readily have sex until the males have courted them for a while. There is good reason for this female delay provided by courting rituals. The courting allows the females time to evaluate each male and select the best one for the most successful offspring. The primary drive for a mate in the old brain is to produce more offspring with the parents' DNA. This drive is what keeps each species from becoming extinct.

Further, the female's hesitancy for sex is an understandable attitude because females have a lot to lose if they get pregnant. First, there is the huge inconvenience and physical energy required to grow the offspring within their body during the gestation period. Then after giving birth, there is a long period of caring for the infant. A short period of physical pleasure with a male can result in a long period of inconvenience and obligation for the female to raise the offspring. Even women using birth control still have in their DNA a fear of the consequences of casual sex. These are the reasons why most females are not eager for a 'roll-in-the-hay' every time a male comes along. Acceptance of a sexual partner is a serious decision for females. Much more serious than for a male!
